Eastern Province Land Rights Gathering Joint Meeting of Ampara and Batticaloa Districts Date: April 8, 2025 | Venue: Oluvil Green Villa Hotel A gathering focused on land rights in the Eastern Province was held on April 8, 2025, at the Oluvil Green Villa Hotel, with the participation of 28 individuals from the Ampara and Batticaloa districts. Following the identification of participants, a brief introduction to the People’s Alliance for Land Rights was provided, especially for the new attendees. Thereafter, the group reviewed the decisions taken during the previous meeting held on December 19, 2024, and assessed the progress made in implementing those decisions. During the review process, it was reported that information on 39 land issues in the Ampara district had been updated and compiled, while data on several land issues in Batticaloa had also been consolidated. From these, seven key land issues were prioritized in Ampara and four in Batticaloa. Further updates were made to ensure accuracy and current relevance. Additionally, the group was informed about a land issue in the Thayiddi area of the Jaffna district, specifically related to the Tissa Viharaya. Discussions with Hon. Minister of Cultural Affairs, Sunil Senemi, were also highlighted, focusing on archaeological land disputes emerging across both the Northern and Eastern Provinces. As a next step, it was decided to prepare written reports on each identified land issue at divisional and district levels. These documents are to be submitted to relevant authorities and the local offices of the National People's Power (NPP) prior to the upcoming provincial council elections. The responsibility of overseeing and following up on these activities was entrusted to the core operations team. Furthermore, the group was briefed on the upcoming National Committee meeting scheduled to be held at the national level, with the date to be communicated later. This meeting was organized and facilitated by key activists from Ampara and Batticaloa districts, with Mr. Priyankara Costa serving as the resource person for the session.

ඌව පළාත් ඉඩම් එකතුව බදුල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික්කය සහ මොණරාගල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ සිවිල් සංවිධාන ක්‍රියාදරයින් සහ ග්‍රාමීය නායකයින් ,ආදිවාසී නායකයින් 25 දෙනෙකු ඒකාබද්ධව, අප්‍රේල් මස හත්වෙන දින මෙම රැස්වීම බදුල්ල වැලිගම හෝටලයේදී පවත්වන ලදී. පසුගිය රැස්වීමේදී ගනු ලැබූ තීන්දු තීරණ සහ මේ දක්වා එහි ප්‍රගතිය මැන බැලීමක් පළමුව සිදු කරන ලදී. ඉන් අනතුරුව සෑම ප්‍රදේශයකම ඇති ඉඩම් ගැටලුව පිළිබඳව දත්ත සහ තොරතුරු නිවැරදිව යාවත්කාලීන කිරීමක් එකිනෙක් කෙනා විසින් ලිඛිතව සිදු කරන ලදි.මෙම ගැටලු සඳහා අපේක්‍ෂිත විසඳුම් යෝජනා කර ගත් අතර,ඒ සඳහා නව රජය සමඟ කෙසේ ගනුදෙනු කළ යුතුද පිළිබඳව සාකච්ඡාවක් කර,වැඩ පිළිවෙලක් සකස් කරනලදී. ඒ අතර -ප්‍රාදේශීය මට්ටමේ දත්ත තොරතුරු පදනම් කරගෙන ලිපි සකස් කිරීම. -පළාත් මට්ටමේ තොරතුරු පදනම් කරගෙන ලිපියක් සකස් සකස් සකස්කර අදාල බලධාරීන් වෙත යොමුු කිරීම. -ගැටලු ප්‍රාදේශීය NPP(ජාතික ජන බලවේග) කාර්යාලවලට ලබාදීම. -නීති රීතිං සහ අණ පනත් පිළිබඳව ප්‍රාදේශීය නායකයින් දැනුවත් කිරීම. -එමෙන්ම ජාතික එකතුවක් මැයි මාසයේදී පැවැත්වීම පිළිබඳව ද සාකච්ඡා කරන ලදී. මෙම වැඩසටහන පළාත් සම්බන්ධීකාරක වරුන් වන උපුල් මහත්මා සහ ප්‍රේමලතා මහත්මිය විසින් සිදු කරන ලද අතර වැඩසටහනේ සම්පත් දායකත්වය ප්‍රියංකර කොස්තා මහතා විසින් මාලිංග මහත්මා විසින් සිදු කරන ලදී. Uva Province Land alliance meeting A meeting was held on April 7th at the Weligama Hotel in Badulla with the participation of 25 individuals including civil society activists, rural leaders, and Indigenous leaders from the Badulla and Monaragala districts. The session began by reviewing the decisions made at the previous meeting and evaluating the progress achieved so far. Subsequently, each participant provided written and updated data and information related to land issues in their respective areas. Proposed solutions for these issues were discussed, along with how to engage with the new government to address them. A strategic work plan was formulated. Among the tasks agreed upon were: -Preparing written articles based on local-level data and information. -Compiling a provincial-level report to be submitted to the relevant authorities. -Submitting the identified issues to local National People's Power (NPP) offices. -Raising awareness among local leaders regarding laws, regulations, and policies. Furthermore, the participants discussed organizing a national-level assembly in the month of May. This program was coordinated by the provincial coordinators Mr. Upul and Ms. Premalatha, while Mr. Priyankara Costa and Mr. Malinga served as resource persons for the session. உவா மாகாண நிலத்திட உரிமை கூட்டமைப்பின் கூட்டம் அப்ரல் 7 ஆம் திகதி பதுளை மாவட்டத்தின் வெளிகம ஹோட்டலில், பதுளை மற்றும் மொனராகலை மாவட்டங்களைச் சேர்ந்த சிவில் சமூகவாதிகள், கிராமிய தலைவர்கள் மற்றும் மூலநிவாசி தலைவர்கள் உள்ளிட்ட 25 பேர் பங்கேற்ற கூட்டம் ஒன்று நடத்தப்பட்டது. முந்தைய கூட்டத்தில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட தீர்மானங்களையும் இதுவரை கிடைத்த முன்னேற்றத்தையும் பரிசீலனை செய்வதன் மூலம் இந்த அமர்வு ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டது. அதன் பின்னர், ஒவ்வொரு பங்கேற்பாளரும் தங்களது பிரதேசங்களில் நிலவிய நிலமைகள் குறித்த தரவுகள் மற்றும் தகவல்களை எழுத்துப்பூர்வமாக புதுப்பித்தனர். இவ்வ مسையங்களில் எதிர்பார்க்கப்படும் தீர்வுகள் பற்றி விவாதிக்கப்பட்டது. புதிய அரசாங்கத்துடன் எவ்வாறு ஈடுபடுவது என்பதையும் ஆராய்ந்து ஒரு செயல்திட்டம் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டது. கூட்டத்தில் தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்ட முக்கிய செயற்பாடுகள்: உள்ளூர் நிலைத் தரவுகளின் அடிப்படையில் கட்டுரைகள் தயாரித்தல். மாகாண மட்ட தரவுகளின் அடிப்படையில் அறிக்கை ஒன்றை தயார் செய்து சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அதிகாரிகளிடம் சமர்ப்பித்தல். காணப்பட்ட பிரச்சனைகளை உள்ளூர் தேசிய மக்கள் சக்தி (NPP) அலுவலகங்களுக்கு வழங்குதல். உள்ளூர் தலைவர்களுக்கு சட்டங்கள், விதிமுறைகள் மற்றும் கொள்கைகள் குறித்து விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்துதல். மேலும், மே மாதத்தில் தேசிய அளவிலான ஒன்றுகூடலை ஏற்பாடு செய்வது குறித்தும் விவாதிக்கப்பட்டது. இக்கூட்டத்தை மாகாண ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர்களான திரு உப்புல் மற்றும் திருமதி பிரேமலதா ஒருங்கிணைத்தனர். இந்த நிகழ்வுக்கு வளமாக இருந்தோர் திரு பிரியங்கர கொஸ்டா மற்றும் திரு மாலிங்கா ஆவர்.

Conducted International Women day

NAFSO Sri Lanka conducted International Women's Day celebrations at Rukmani Devi Cultural Centre at Negombo on 04th April, 2025. Deputy Minister of Women's Affairs, Dr. Namal Sudarshan attended as the chief gust of the event. NAFSO team presented the policy briefing on Fisher Women's issues drafted by policy studies unit. Priyanka Costa, Coordinator, Praja Abilasha network presented the guiding book "Aharin Sapiri Purawarak" (A city with plenty of food) on self sufficient food producer units which promote #foodsovereignty drafted by Praja Abhilasha Network of NAFSO. Deepa Suba Shini, the national women Coordinator of NAFSO said, "We, the National Women Federation expect to have a dialogue with the ministry and the national Women's beureu on policy document we submitted and also on #CEDAW parallel document presented by #COSO Collective on CEDAW in Sri Lanka." In response, Hon Deputy Minister said, "We have begun a process which address the decades of issues unattended. On top we need to address the issues of war victimised women and children. As we are here to serve people and not for personal gains we have begun to settle them one by one gradually. So, we are open to dialogue with the people whom ready to work in cooperation with us." The program was conducted with the participation of 550 women leaders and men representing 17 districts where NAFSO bases and representing various CSOs, TU, and government institutions.
