ලෝක ජනාවාස දිනය සැමරුම –වාසස්ථාන අයිතිය සඳහා වූ ජනතා එකතුව ගම්පහ දිස්ත්‍රික්කය. ලෝක ජනාවාස දිනය නිමිත්තෙන් මෙම වසරේ සැමරුම මීගමුව, වත්තල, කටුනායක, ජා-ඇල, ඒකල, බෝපිටිය, වතුපිටිවල සහ කටාන යන ප්‍රදේශවලින් පැමිණි ප්‍රජා නායකයින්ගේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් ශ්‍රමාභිමානී කේන්ද්‍රයේදී දී පැවැත්විණි. රජය විසින් මෙම නිල සැමරුම ඊයේ (ඔක්තෝබර් 5) දින පැවැත්වූ අතර එහි තේමාව වූයේ “තමන්ගේම තැනක් – ලස්සන ජීවිතයක්” යන මාතෘකාව යටතේ ය. මෙම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගි වූ බොහෝ දෙනා තම අදහස් පල කරමින් සඳහන් කළේ — > “අපේ ඉල්ලීමත් එයමයි. අපටත් තමන්ගේම තැනක් අවශ්‍යයි; අපටත් ලස්සන ජීවිතයක් ගොඩනගන්න අවස්ථාවක් හිමි විය යුතුයි.” ඒ අනුව, ජනතාවගේ හඬ වූයේ රජයේ තේමාවක් ලෙස ඉදිරිපත් කළ “තමන්ගේම තැනක් – ලස්සන ජීවිතයක්” යන කියමන සීමා වූ පණිවිඩයක් නොව, නැවතත් යථාර්ථයක් බවට පරිවර්තනය කරන ලෙස ඉල්ලීමකි. Save Mannar

The NPP government, breaking the promises given to the people of Mannar before the election, has decided to further proceed with the wind power plant project on Mannar Island. Despite the people staging strong protests for the past 50 days, the government attempted to bring the necessary equipment to the area to continue construction, ignoring public opposition. NPP ආණ්ඩුව මන්නාරම් ජනතාවට ඡන්දයට පෙර ලබා දුන් පොරොන්දු කඩ කරමින්, මන්නාරම් දූපතේ සුළං විදුලි බලාගාර ව්‍යාපෘතිය තවත් දියත් කිරීමට තීරණය කර ඇත. ජනතාව පසුගිය දින 50ක කාලයක් පුරා දැඩි විරෝධතා දැක්වූවත්, ආණ්ඩුව මෙම කටයුතු නොතකා ඉදිකිරීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය උපකරණ එම ප්‍රදේශයට ගෙන ඒමට උත්සාහ ගත්තේය. ඒ අවස්ථාවේදී ජනතාවගේ සාමකාමී විරෝධය බිඳ දැමීමට පොලිස් බලය යොදාගෙන, විරෝධතාවය පරාජය කිරීමට කටයුතු කළ අතර, ව්‍යාපෘති වැඩ නැවත ආරම්භ කිරීමටත් සූදානම් වී ඇත. මෙම විනාශකාරී කටයුතු වලට විරෝධය දැක්වීමේ අරමුණින් 2025 සැප්තැම්බර් 29 වන දින මන්නාරම් නගරයේදී විශාල උද්ඝෝෂණයක් පැවැත්විණි. ජනතාව විසින් ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ, මන්නාරම් දූපත මුදු මට්ටමට වඩා පහළින් පිහිටා ඇති බැවින් ගබඩා ජලය සහ වෙරළ පද්ධතියට ඇති අවදානම, සංවේදී පරිසර පද්ධති විනාශ වීම, දැනටමත් ඉදිකර ඇති සුළං විදුලි බලාගාර නිසා ඇතිවූ පාරිසරික, සමාජීය, ආර්ථික හා සෞඛ්‍ය ගැටලු මූලික කරගෙන, වහාම මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය නවතා දමන ලෙසයි. මන්නාරම් දූපත බේරා ගැනීම සඳහා පක්ෂ පාට භේදයකින් තොරව ඒකරාශී වෙමු.
