Ignorance of cabinet decision on Paanama Land since 2015 ,Feb 11th

Agitation of Paanama community regarding the ignorance of the cabinet decision for 5 years

Its been 10 years since their land being taken away forcibly by military and 5 years since cabinet has decided to return the land back to them, Thus people people in Paanama still fighting to get their land back. The people have conducted a meeting to highlight their agitation and disappointment regarding the ignorance of the cabinet decision on Paanama , Ragamvila Land. The Muslim community in Ampara who lost land also took part at the event and joined hands with the Paanama community. more than 70 people took part at the event.

PARL Regional Committee Meeting held at Co-op City Hall in Batticaloa

The People's Alliance for Right to Land (PARL) regional Committee meeting was held in Batticaloa on 15th Sep 2019.. Civil Society organization and Community leaders from Ampara District, Batticaloa District and Trincomalee District took part in the meeting. Praja Abhilasha (PA) and NAFSO has organized the PARL Meeting in Batticaloa through the partner organization( Batticaloa District Fisheries Organization) of PA & NAFSO with the Support of Law and Society Trust(LST). Specially discussed about the land occupation by the military and government institutions. The participants have decided to take few initial steps to face this issues. as a first step these all three district people come together and formed a strong movement in their region and it will be further strengthened in the coming months.

Workshop on State Land laws and Revised National Physical Plan of Sri Lanka conducted by Praja Abhilasha

on 28th-29th May 2019- A workshop held at Ecumenical Institute for Study and Dialogue(EISD)  regarding the State Land laws and Revised National Physical Plan of Sri Lanka  and the workshop was organized by Praja Abhilasha Network .. Participants took part in the workshop from across the country. Mr.Jagath Liyanarachchi (Senior Lawyer )  facilitated the workshop as Prime Resource person. Moreover Mr, Herman Kumara (Convener of Nattional Fisheries Solidarity) and Mr.Priyankara Costa were the Facilitators of the workshop. Tamils/Sinhalees/Muslims participated in the workshop and discussed about the present situation of the country and took decisions to overcome from them.. at the same time discussed to strengthen the land struggles which are weakened . So the Praja Abhilasha Network will continuously support the people who engage in land struggle in order to reclaim their land rights back.
