🌿 Is the Rakawa Lagoon Turning into a Dead Lagoon?
While a group of people are dedicatedly working to protect the Rakawa Lagoon, another group, together with certain businessmen, is preparing to further expand the prawn ponds.
A discussion regarding this situation was held with the communities connected to the Rakawa Lagoon on October 31 and November 1 at Netolpitiya, Boraluwa.
During the discussion, participants reviewed the current situation, relevant legal aspects, the actions taken by the community so far, identification of the key stakeholders related to the issue, and possible collective actions for the future.
Attorney-at-law Ravindra Sumathipala extended her support for the event, while an awareness session on savings, loan granting, and credit management and content of the right to information act was also conducted for the women’s group of the Southern Lanka Fishermen’s Cooperative.
This program was organized by District Coordinator Lakshara Samarathunga, with the Praja Abhilasha Network providing necessary facilitation.

🌿 ரகுவா ஏரி இறந்த ஏரியாக மாறுகிறதா?
ரகுவா ஏரியை காப்பாற்றுவதற்காக ஒரு குழுவினர் அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றனர். ஆனால், மற்றொரு தரப்பு சில தொழிலதிபர்களுடன் இணைந்து இறால் குளங்களை மேலும் விரிவாக்கத் தயாராகி வருகின்றனர்.
இந்த நிலைமை தொடர்பான கலந்துரையாடல், ரகுவா ஏரியுடன் தொடர்புடைய மக்களுடன் அக்டோபர் 31 மற்றும் நவம்பர் 1 ஆகிய தேதிகளில் போரலுவா நெடோல் பிட்டிய பகுதியில் நடைபெற்றது.
கலந்துரையாடலின்போது தற்போதைய நிலைமை, அதனுடன் தொடர்புடைய சட்ட அம்சங்கள், மக்கள் எடுத்த நடவடிக்கைகள், பிரச்சினைக்கு சம்பந்தப்பட்ட தரப்பினரை அடையாளம் காணுதல் மற்றும் எதிர்காலத்தில் ஒருங்கிணைந்து மேற்கொள்ளக்கூடிய நடவடிக்கைகள் குறித்து ஆராயப்பட்டது.
இந்த நிகழ்விற்கு வழக்கறிஞர் ரவீந்திரா சுமதிபாலா அவர்கள் ஒத்துழைப்பு வழங்கினார். அதேசமயம், தென் இலங்கை மீனவர் ஒத்துழைப்பு அமைப்பின் பெண்கள் குழுவிற்கு சேமிப்பு, கடன் வழங்கல் மற்றும் கடன் மேலாண்மை குறித்து விழிப்புணர்வு நிகழ்வும் நடத்தப்பட்டது.
இந்த நிகழ்வை மாவட்ட ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் லக்ஷர சமரதுங்க அவர்கள் ஒருங்கிணைத்ததுடன், பிரஜா அபிலாஷா வலையமைப்பு இதற்கான வசதிகளை வழங்கியது.

රැකව කලපුව මළකලපුවක් බවට පත්වෙයිද?
රැකව කලපුව බේරා ගැනීම සඳහා පිරිසක් කැපවී ක්රියාත්මක වන අතර, අනෙක් පාර්ශවයක් ව්යාපාරිකයින් සමඟ එක්ව ඉස්සන් පොකුණු තවදුරටත් ව්යාප්ත කිරීම සඳහා සැරසෙමින් සිටී.
මෙම තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව රැකව කලපුව ආශ්රිත පිරිස් සමඟ සාකච්ඡාවක් ඔක්තෝබර් 31 සහ නොවැම්බර් 1 දෙදින තුළ බොරළුව නෙටොල් පිටියේදී පැවැත්විණි.
සාකච්ඡාවේදී දැනට පවතින තත්ත්වය, එයට අදාළ නීතිමය පැතිකඩ, ජනතා ක්රියාමාර්ග, ගැටලුවට අදාළ පාර්ශ්වකරුවන් හඳුනා ගැනීම සහ ඉදිරියේදී ඒකාබද්ධව ගත හැකි ක්රියාමාර්ග පිළිබඳ විමසීම් සිදු කරන ලදී.
මෙම අවස්ථාවට නීතිඥ රවින්ද්රා සුමතිපාල මෙනවිය සහයෝගය ලබා දුන් අතර, දක්ෂිණ ලංකා ධීවර සහයෝගීතාවයේ කාන්තා කණ්ඩායමට ඉතිරි කිරීම්, ණයදීම් සහ ණය කළමනාකරණය පිළිබඳ ,තොරතුරු දැන ගැනීමේ පනත පිළිබඳව ද දැනුවත් කිරීම සිදු කරන ලදී.
මෙම වැඩසටහන සංවිධානය කළේ දිස්ත්රික් සම්බන්ධීකාරක ලක්ෂර සමරතුංග වන අතර, ප්රජා අභිලාෂ ජාලය මේ සඳහා පහසුකම් සැපයීම සිදුකරන ලදී.
